Pretty sure this is a feature the uploader can use for YouTube to generate an (ai) thumbnail. I saw it on my channel once, but can't find it back now. You can see it on many MANY channel thumbnails now. At least with the people I follow. I'm not a fan.

I'm seeing it on more videos now, and it's awful. It's just making stuff up. Badly.

Picking out the most relevant frame in the video was better.
