I am not a USA citizen (French), but I think it's a common pattern: Aren't these illegal immigrants essential for agricultural work and the hotel and restaurant industry?

I think the employment of undocumented workers is very widespread through many industries.

They are essential in so far as they can be grossly underpaid. They are essential in so far as they will work in fields, covered in pesticides without safety equipment or complaint.

The real problem are the corporations and businesses hiring them. They only hire to abuse them, and we should stop that abuse. If limiting the number of people who can be in the country undocumented forces the CEOs of some of these companies to go to jail, then that is good reform.
