I think the point is that the rest of the country will soon catch up to what border states have known for decades. Undocumented immigrants are too important to the economy.[0] But excellent for scaring people into voting a certain way. It's why Texas refuses to require businesses to check work status and do audits[1][2], instead they put on a song and dance at the border.
