In general, that's true, but in this case, the new choice is strictly worse than everything already available (except perhaps Red Star OS and Red Flag Linux).
The new choice is better than worse when it comes to mainstream applications competing with the other two American proprietary options while having an independent advanced open-source base, OpenHarmony alongside the independent European/Western derivative Oniro that is available to everyone to integrate and build better things in the 21st century than you previously mentioned. America doesnt mean automatically good when it comes proprietary operating systems while prejudging Huawei.
