The main reason for google search’s success is it drove traffic to websites and both had their share of the ad pie. With ChatGPT they would take a much much bigger share of the pie and so if it becomes successful in replacing google search’s UI, it will fully replace the extreme distributed nature of the internet and make the traditional/big content providers even more powerful. I am sure content creators will find a way to adapt but in the short term it will cause pain
This is a huge issue, actually. Google has many, many organizations on its side, simply due to the mutually beneficial relationship they have. That's something that will likely benefit Google in the short and medium term, though I can still very much see how this threatens them in the long run.
