For others stumbling across this, the idea was considered in PEP 722 (
https://peps.python.org/pep-0722/
) and is supported today by uv (
https://docs.astral.sh/uv/guides/scripts/#declaring-script-d...
).

Not just considered in PEP 722 - the uv feature is just an implementation of PEP 723 [1] (PEP 722's successor/competitor), which was accepted. Other tools like pipx support it as well.
