"Social Media" took over the job of publishing people's ideas, when the overwhelmingly majority of people couldn't create a website or blog.

It came at a cost to civility and created surveillance capitalism. Quality is meaningless compared to clicks.

Anil Dash says that the paradigm has run its course, as Google replaces factual results with a page of ads, and others are racing recklessly to be your personal chatbot.

I personally like drawing my own conclusions from facts and stories. I ask a clock to tell me the time, not to suggest ways to spend it, and spend my money.

What's next?
