Ask HN: How can I find a cofounder?

I’m building a gamified product discovery platform and I’m looking for a co-founder, but many of the cofounders I meet try to pouch me for their own startup ideas and of the ones that are interested none of them are local to me. How can I find even a fractional co-founder, someone I can put on my pitch deck even in name only? Is there an app or a website for this?


In general if your co-founder was not in college with you, then it gets tough to find somebody. The co-founder thing is just a name which was given post-facto to identify two friends who were together in college and that spunoff a company.

Some people have the privilege to build stuff with their friends.

Some others don't have the same privilege, you can only play the hand you've been dealt, so hire someone to do what you need for the startup, and open a resturant/gym/club with your friend/s


Do you _really_ need a cofounder? Putting someone in your pitch deck who is not 100% committed is going to torpedo getting a term sheet when investors want to meet them.
