Layering music over footage/audio(content) is a production. Not saying it's bad nor good. Just a fact.


It's a music production trick employed by untold numbers of musicians all over the world, more commonly known as "sampling".

It has nothing to do with Hollywood.


Its history goes way back - quite interesting and as you say, not Hollywood or even US in origin (according to the below).
