I mean Twitter already had process like that in place and many people trusted them with that.

And I'm sure many large company, politicians and so on would have gone threw the verification process.

Of course now maybe some people wouldn't anymore but when he took over twitter announcing that as a policy seem reasonable.

And those executives responsible for that division have left the company, complaining about user privacy issues and security violations.

This is not the time to be trusting Twitter with your personal data.


That's fine that you have this opinion, but I honestly don't think this is a factor that would stop most people. People on HN have a much different perspective on personal data then most people in the real world. And for companies it not really an issue either.
