I don't know either why it isn't discussed more. I am not really a Microsoft fan but it is a very powerful tool. Sure, I am quite sure in writing manual SQL queries, but for data visualization and also data merging via Power Query is really good tool.
I guess one hurdle is the license model from MS and the cloud nature of the solution. But I think many corporations with the usual MS environment do use it internally already.
The REST services, especially the GraphAPI, is quite nice. What isn't nice is the hurdles you have to jump with registering an app, etc. It is a standard form of auth, but not all standards are convenient.
