When it comes to UI, MORE IS NOT BETTER. Web apps would be way better if the system only permitted a few standard interaction elements (fields, buttons, etc) and everything else was display only.
I think I speak for everyone on this site when I say that the best UI is simply a CLI. Millions of dollars of engineering work is wasted on small widgets and useless animations that don't enhance the user experience, but they detract from it and make it clumsy and annoying to solve your problem.
