Ask HN: How to tell Google/Apple maps that a road is for buses only?

I was just fined £60 for passing through a "bus gate" in the UK that Google Maps navigated me straight through. I am sure will continue to happen to tons of people.

I recently changed my address's GPS coordinates on google maps—is it possible to do something similar for navigation?

On Apple Maps, use the "report a problem feature". A team of underpaid contractors in Seattle will adjust it in OpenStreetMap, and Apple Maps will ingest the data after a few weeks.

t. worked on this terrible team

Do you happen to know how that ingest works? There are some foot paths near my house I put in and fixed over the years and none of them are in Apple maps. Does it only ingest the changes the apple team makes?

They're interested in street-level roads and higher, as well as POI. Stuff that would support turn-by-turn directions. I'd suspect that if they are foot paths, then they aren't prioritizing non-roads/streets.

Within Apple Maps, there should be a link to report an issue. You may also want to confirm the road is properly attributed in open street maps.

Can you link us to the exact location on OpenStreetMap.org? The someone can make sure that the situation is correct for users of OSM, too.
