Not worth asking. It's part of a bizarre theory that Big Media is not only a single cabal, but that cabal is constantly whiteboarding attacks on the tech companies that have bought large pieces of it.
I think it's for two reasons: 1) it's scarier to think that Big Media and Big Tech are getting along swimmingly despite a few minor conflicts and necessary keyfabe for the plebs, and 2) people who do horrible things for money in Big Tech want to feel better about themselves, and want people to think well of them (not like they think of people who worked at AIG, Arthur Andersen, or Countrywide.)
