This is a tricky question to answer. :) First and foremost we want to find the right people for our team. In order to hire people remotely across Europe we need to adapt compensation rates based on where you're located. However, if you apply from Switzerland you're probably competing with candidates from countries where the asking rate is lower, so that may be a disadvantage if everything else is "equal".
Please email us at careers@fr24.com if you want to clarify your individual situation before applying. Alternatively you can apply via the link and put this question in the "cover letter".
Regarding the financial number that you reference it's unfortunately not quite accurate. The employee count in the annual report only includes employees in our Swedish company. Remote staff in other countries work with us as invoicing contractors and do not get counted as employees within the context of an annual report.
A small feedback if you don't mind: you might be at disadvantage compared to other (most) remote companies who pay based on their HQ. Why would e.g. Romanian dev consider your "Romanian rate" offer when a competing German company offers a "German rate"?
Also, your subscription plans are the same for every country.
Thanks for the feedback! You're right that we need to be aware of what remote-hiring "competitors" do too, and we certainly try to follow for example the discussions that pop up here on HN once in a while (e.g. GitLab, Stripe, VMWare recently).
To comment on your question specifically, a drawback would be that if we paid only Swedish market rates we would struggle to hire good candidates in places like Switzerland or the U.K. At some point we may need to formalize compensation structure, but for now we care more about finding the right people to work with regardless of where they are located and if the match is right we'll try to find a solution that makes everybody happy.
