Possibly I’ve just read too much on the topic already to get use out of it. I read a lot of positive feedback about the book, so I’m wondering if I’m missing something.

It felt more like a beginner's intro. Some were new for me, but I would call myself a beginner.

Yes. I had exposure to a lot of the models but not in a formal way which is likely why it is enjoyable.
