Is this a misuse of the word "modal"? If not, could someone please explain this definition to me? From context, I'm guessing the author means "typical" perhaps?
He does mean typical, but I'm not sure if the definition is correct. Mode of a sequence is the unit occurring most number of times. So the modal employee is supposed to be the most frequently occurring one.
