Since many are asking about apps with simillar capabilities I’m very happy with MacWhisper. Has Parakeet, near instant transcription of my lengthy monologues. All local.

Edit: Ah but Parakeet I think isn’t available for free. But very worthwhile single purchase app nonetheless!

I actually got MacWhisper originally for speech to text so I could talk to my machine like a crazy person. I realized I didn't like doing that but the actual killer feature for buying it that I really enjoy is the fully local transcription of meetings, with a nice little button to start recording that pops up when you launch zoom, teams, etc. It means I can safely record meetings and encrypt them locally and keep internal notes without handing off all of that to some nebulous cloud platform.

I had previously used Hyprnote to record meetings in this way - and indeed I still use that as a backup, it's a great free option - but the meeting prompting to record and better transcription offered by Macwhisper is a much better experience.

I initially built Talkie to talk to it like a crazy person when I was on long runs and ideas would pop into my head haha

Been a power user of SuperWhisper and Wispr Flow for a long time and eventually decided to unify those flows - memos & dictations, everything is a file and local first, BYOK

I saw twice recently that if everyone is so productive, where are all the new Github repos, but never bothered to check the data. Seems like the uptick is plausibly visible from Github's own data?

I regularly search for new repos in my field and about half the results these days are half-baked, botched or basic stuff driven by AI.

I would imagine it is, yes. That's even true of my own repos.

Hah this is the 3rd fun app like this I've seen lately. I really like yours!

I also built one! In mine you can compose effects using a graph, I've gotten carried away and now I keep wanting to bring more TouchDesigner concepts into it. It's far off, but so much fun! The best feedback on these kinds of apps is if you put it in camera mode and on a TV, and let a kid dance around in front of it.

I hope you don't mind if I steal some of you nice ideas for myself :)

Cool! Ya please do! I really like yours as well. If I were intending to make a tool for professionals, I'd want a graph setup as well. The default effect is already so nice.

Also beautifully done. Love it!

Oh you brought back fond memories of using the very first education product Replit had. It was so good. I was teaching GCSE CS and having a blast giving kids python with turtle to play with. I would just give them some multicoloured octagon and more complex shape, and they had to draw it with turtle.

They enjoyed it, I enjoyed it, and the teacher UX was great.

Libre Office has a Logo implementation built in. You can have turtles whizzing around your documents and spreadsheets.

Really interesting company, good luck!

I have this toy I’ve enjoyed building immensely, for composing video effects.

Try to put `sys.path.insert(0, os.getcwd())` after `import sys` in dream.py.

That fixed it for me.
