Protecting Hebrew hate speech, in short. On-brand for Elmo.

Somewhere less loathesome.

when u think about, all platforms are just words and pics. no place is better or worse than another. it’s just what you make of it. even the whole idea of “somewhere” is silly on an e-reader/phone screen.

Hard disagree. That's like saying no books are better or worse than others because they're just made up of words.

The people, the moderators, the customizability, the owners, and the userbase play heavily into the quality of a "platform."

idk. to me the platform is the phone, and there’s just one single thing going on in there

Let's not, and say we didn't and won't.

The West Bank is of course a horrible model for any society, including the West Bank.

Allies want to know what, if anything, US would do in event of Chinese invasion of Taiwan.

Answer: bluster, lie, nothing.

From Sept 2020

Why does that matter? It still remains unsolved.

Because the whole rest of the world is crazy, of course.

Why would you need to "generate" emails 200+ times faster? Brush up your typing skills.

Unplug Elmo.

Here, "text editor" means Emacs or Vim, mostly Emacs. (No thanks.) Page last updated March 2024 but looks very 1990s.

It was not posted with the intention to recommend specific editors. That ship sailed long ago, as everyone knows. Was just posted to see if any interesting discussions arose, particularly about retro editors.

For example, I briefly (pun not intended) used the Brief editor, some years ago, and also by chance, was introduced to one of the guys who worked on it, Miles Norman, IIRC, at a dev meeting in Boston. Brief had an interesting feature: if you held down a particular key for longer, it would repeat faster. And if even longer, then even faster. This was very useful for moving around rapidly in large files. Also, I heard it was written in pure assembly.

Those are the kind of anecdotes I was hoping might arise from this post.

>but looks very 1990s.

That can be a plus point for some people :)
