Someone cold called me on Discord trying to "feature" my content on his reskinned RSS aggregator. Typical nonsense with inflated traffic metrics, promises for the world. Like the rest of these types he couldn't work with affiliate links, had no clue about it and demanded upfront payment.
He got turned off fast when I told him, "I've never paid for backlinks in my entire life". Google guidelines etc.
Paid directory listings. Everything that is old is new again.
If he's selling it stands to reason that someone is buying. If you can keep it clean, and accept free submissions, there's something in the ad revenue. Eventually more crypto services will adapt to the affiliate commission system. The current way of doing things will die out.
Great morning routine! Found myself doing much of the same, so started building a lightweight site to help sift through news. Feel free to check it out and leave some feedback! https://blokfeed.com
I was in the same boat before COVID. Podcastmarks is mobile friendly which should allow you to listen to the podcasts while driving. I do have app options in the works.
Biggest issue I saw with using Podcastmarks while driving would be the bookmarking and potentially adding notes. I would need to explore more voice control options as I move forward. That is an area I am not sure about in regards to building the app and using it while driving.
But, I appreciate the feedback! I definitely will add your ideas to the growing list of suggestions to help triage development efforts. It does appear I need to make it more apparent there is a mobile ready option currently available.
In the meantime feel free to check out Podcastmarks and let me know what you think!
I agree on the point of desktop. I do listen on both desktop and phone. I wanted to flush out the idea on desktop with a mobile friendly version. I have the ability to generate an app using NativeScript. Which is hopefully coming soon.
The inspiration came from while listening to podcasts and wanting to take notes about interesting content within each episode. Podcastmarks allows me to bookmark specific points within an episode and add a note so I can refer back to it at a later time.
I have started giving some thought to building in a way for users to add their own feeds, but haven't finalized what that would look like.
I appreciate the question!
