Hi everyone! 70% of couples in the U.S. move in together before getting married. Expense sharing is their first financial experience together, but there’s no seamless, modern solution to make this easier. The status quo ranges from clunky and annoying (Venmo + a spreadsheet) to too serious (a joint account). Right now millions of couples are combining their lives in dozens of ways, but living financially separate.
My team and I built Tandem given we experienced this pain point personally. Tandem is an iOS app that eliminates the back-and-forth of Venmo, without the need to get a joint bank account or card. Couples can import expenses from their current credit or debit cards, easily select which items to split with their partner, and settle up at any time.
Would love to hear what you think or how you currently handle money with a partner.
Relationships are changing. Couples are moving in together quicker and getting married later. Thus, creating a period in which two partners are combining their lives, yet staying financially separate. The first big financial pain point a couple experiences together is expense sharing.
I'm building Tandem because I experienced this problem first hand. I had heard from too many people that there was no platform to help them navigate their financial life TOGETHER (especially as dual earning partners are now the norm). Tandem is not meant preempt the dreaded "finance talk", it is not a joint account. It’s a simple way to automate the manual Venmo and spreadsheet you already use with accounts you already have. Tandem allows you to automate repeat expenses and pay your partner all right within the app. Truly putting expenses on autopilot.
I'd love to hear how you think about finances with your partner. And if this sounds remotely interesting, please sign up at the link.
