Yup, like wanting to put what's basically a rootkit in the Linux kernel only so they can play some stupid video games, that are popular right now but will be forgotten in a few years or less.

How is that a bad thing? Maybe I'm showing my age here, but I believe that's what a video game console should be. Put in cartridge, turn it on, start playing. Sure, when they moved to optical discs you had to wait a little longer, but it was no big deal.
If you want to do PC-like stuff, just use a PC. Personally, I lost all interest in consoles when they all turned into weird proprietary PCs.
While I certainly agree with the sentiment, this would only work in an ideal world, or in a small community like the early Web was. In the world we all live in, people, companies and governments deceive, stalk and steal, and you can be bullied, ostracized, fired, fined, jailed or even killed just for something you wrote.
