I've never seen a job here based in Mauritius; that would be a cool place to work. I'm not sure I could move to a primarily french-speaking African country but it's certainly a beautiful country

Because a primarily french-speaking African country is … ? I am not sure what is your point. Also Mauritius has significant British heritage, they even drive on the “wrong” side of the road.

I've interacted with dev teams in Mauritius. The dev culture was more Indian than it was anything else.

It's not all that that distant from India actually, if you disregard the open water between them. Wikipedia has Mauritius as ethnically "67% Indian"

I don't speak french and don't have any African family/friends. Sorry I didn't mean this as some insightful analysis of the country, just my specific needs. Really interesting job and location.

It's not a conspiracy but the effect is just the same. Selective enforcement of laws that make everyone a criminal allows people in positions of power to target anyone they wish. This is made worse in countries where penalties are very severe, like the US.

In France it is illegal to use contractors where their condition of work are the same as employees. Specific cases are decided by the court, but basically the status of contractor can't be used to go around labour laws.

It's most certainly true in France and I guess in other Latin countries.

But but but « entrepreneur » is a French word!

So how did entrepreneurs like Sarkozy and Berlusconi ever get elected?

Get off it.

Entrepreneurs aren't worshiped like gods by default just for being entrepreneurs, that's all.

Sarkozy is not an entrepreneur. It's theorically a lawyer but he is a full time politician for 30 years (He was mayor of Neuilly since 1983).

SEEKING FREELANCER - remote

We're looking for a developer to expand and maintain a B2B web application, both frontend and backend. We use Python and PostgreSQL server-side (with Flask and SQLAlchemy), mostly ExtJS client-side. This will be a full-time job for at least 3 months. Contact: hn at keoxhq dot com.
