The cheapest TV at Best Buy is $60; if this is after a 98% price drop the cheapest TV in 2000 would’ve been $3000. (If you were a child or not yet born back then: TVs were not that expensive.) Rather, the size/quality floor has increased in a way that allows a facile analysis to claim a 98% reduction in price by comparing (eg) the cost of a top of the line plasma TV from 2000 to a cheap LED TV of the same size today.

I'm furious about this!

> One-Third-Gorges Dam (one tenth of the Three Gorges Dam.)

Pedantically, that's one ninth of the Three Gorges Dam. One tenth would be the 0.3 Gorges Dam.

Perhaps customer support was part of the 80% of the company Musk laid off.

> shit is there no social media that isnt like political? easiest win of the century right there,

No one's stopping you; try your brilliant idea and let us know how it pans out!

> noticed Sheridan's name as an actor or director or writer or producer on seemingly damn near every major US TV and movie production in the past five to ten years.

He's credited on 9 movies total with a tenth to be released, and none of them particularly high profile. As far as TV, he is pretty prolific recently but the only way you could possibly think he's involved in "damn near every" TV production in recent years is if you exclusively watch westerns.

(Credit where credit's due: I just learned he wrote Sicario, which was an excellent movie imo.)

I was unaware that Veronica Mars, Sons of Anarchy, Mayor of Kingstown, Tulsa King, Lioness, and Landman were considered "Westerns" (in the USofA sense).

I myself would have reserved that label for his multitude of Yellowstone and Glam Ranching spinoff productions.

My own AV collection of media I enjoy watching or have been involved in the production of does include a collection labled Western .. but these are not the Westerns you are thinking of.

Could you point out a code of conduct -- preferably from a large, well known project -- that reads this way in your opinion?

Republicans doing what they could easily have done since day one: eliminate the filibuster and pass their bill.

The entire reason for this shutdown is that Republicans want to call this bill "bipartisan" despite refusing to involve or negotiate with Democrats at any step in the process.

They can do two things, literally any time they choose: eliminate the filibuster, or negotiate with Democrats.

Why doesn't Mike Johnson call the House back in session so they can negotiate?

They've been negotiating the entire time. You don't need to have people in congress to negotiate.

Refusing to use the contingency fund was pretty rich, dangling food away from starving peoples so they wont pay attention to losing health care - the negotiation is next level

To me it seems like a fair and increasingly important question to ask people: is there any amount of contrary empirical evidence that would cause you to reevaluate your reasoning?
