At least with the pharma commercials they don't get "real" about living with a given disease. It's like stock footage of old people canoeing in slow motion and stuff.
You're right that most pharma are generic korean karaoke parlor videos, but a few of them show really gross sores, rashes that I don't want burned into my brain by an 85'' screen
The timing is just unsettling like i'm having a laugh and then subliminally the next frame is a raw skin lesion
“automate it away” ironically still requires a human in the chain to determine what to automate, how, and to maintain that automation. Whether it be derived from an ai or a systemd script or an Antikythera mechanism. Now if you leave that to seniors you just ate a big chunk of their day playing shephard to a dozen plus “automated” pipelines while they still have stuff to do outside the weeds. Now you need more seniors and pretty soon they want triple what you could pay a junior and I don’t think they are 3x more prolific if the junior is managed efficiently quite frankly.
The process of setting up and maintaining automation should be less labor intensive than just doing it manually (or else why would you automate it?) and almost always requires a more advanced skillset than doing the manual task.
People used to do it early internet before affiliate marketing really took it over. Certainly it was more genuine and products were bemoaned for their compromises in one dimension as much as praised for their performance in another. Everything is a glowing review now and comparisons are therefore meaningless.
Probably half my immediate neighbors get an amazon delivery a day. The truck makes sometimes two or three stops throughout the day and is there for like 15-20 minutes running packages. The thought of that replaced with drone traffic is crazy. It would be like dozens of landings and overflights per hour. It is already bad enough when the realtors fly their drones overhead. I can't imagine the birds and bees aren't getting stressed out if it's managing to piss me off.
Same. Even outside the holiday season, there are 5+ package truck deliveries/day on my little street (12 houses). That's UPS, FedEx, USPS, usually multiple Amazon (which always surprises me), plus a couple unmarked vans. Plus couriers in cars. Plus food delivery, at least 2 a night. Almost all the Amazon vans are now electric Rivians or GMCs.
That's a LOT of drone traffic, given there's near zero ability to double up on a single stop as there is today.
Yeah, it makes a massive difference in the neighborhood, where speeds are so low (10mph or so) there isn't much tire noise.
Now if we could just get our landscape crew (HOA, not mine personally) to adopt electric leaf blowers. I hate this time of year and the constant roar of those things.
who cares what they are buying. it's truly none of your business. there are people that buy things on a whim and do not even for a second think about slowing down to buy things at once to reduce the number of deliveries. if they did that, they'd forget about it and not actually purchase that whim. there could also be multiple independent people at the same address buying things in this manner.
Sounds like there’s an opportunity for bigger drones where you are. Lower frequency noise, fewer flights if you can drop more than one package per flight.
I just have a hard time seeing this becoming a major quality of life issue in the real world. It’s gonna be fine.
And birds and bees seem to be fine around waterfalls and airports, I think they’ll survive drone noise.
I'm playing through wine (kegworks) on OSX but its no fairytale over here. TF2 over wine literally performs worse than native TF2 on my old dual core 2012 mbp. I'm having to use low resolution configs again. CS2 works OK but there are severe lagspikes that ultimately ruin the gunplay (a little more tolerable when it happens in tf2 but its there too). About the only game that works well in this setup for me is Mount and Blade: Warband. But I mean its a 2010 game... I can't even play bannerlord because of anticheat. Can't play chivalry 2 because anticheat. Can't play cities skylines 2. Most games that do work seem to struggle to get 40fps even on m max series macbooks. I'm not sure where the incompatibility is but its got to be in the software layer software given the specs on those max macbooks.
I just wish someone actually cared about this stuff at Apple. GPTK is not that useful. Rosetta 2 has some serious performance throttling going on somewhere in it (why is native macos cities skyline fps locked at 40fps...). Former mainstay native macos game devs from 10-15 years ago have zero interest publishing for the platform today, valve included.
